I don't have cable, and watch the majority of things as they come on Netflix. So, I didn't see Hannibal when it originally came on network television in 2013 through 2015. The series now has a new home on Netflix, and is now being discovered by a whole new audience, which I'm hoping will lead to continuing the series in the future. But I digress. This series is full of many things: grotesque, brutal, beautiful murder scenes, enigmatic psychology, incredible food preparations, and old world tastes and art while also serving a modern story. While Anthony Hopkins' performance in the original Hannibal, Silence of the Lambs, and Red Dragon films is memorably brilliant and frightening, the cast of this new take on this old story is just as enchanting and fantastic. Mads Mikkelson as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a forensic psychiatrist with culinary and artistic skills; Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, an FBI special investigator with a gift for perceiving a killer's motives and methods; Caroline Dhavernas as Dr. Alana Bloom, a professor of psychology; and Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford, head of Behavioral Sciences at the FBI. These are just a few of members of the captivating cast. If you enjoy murder mysteries, thrillers, crime dramas, and beautiful set and stage design with a emphasis on the culinary arts, this is the series for you. Let me know what you think. PSA: this series has gruesome murders depicted graphically, if this is not your jam, this series is not for you. That being said, it's a brilliant show and I hope you enjoy!
